The structure, porosity & continuous dimensional changes caused by wear & dressing, means that grinding wheels have a tendency to introduce vibration via unbalance into what should be an accurate & stable process.
The SB-5500 series is a newly enhanced balancer control platform from SBS. The unit is applicable for all grinding equipment.
The SB-5500 family includes options for a large resolution display, digital electronic framework, multiple communication choices, four-channel capability and 24V DC or universal input AC power supply.
The control is modular, and the 4 channels can be configured as:
*SB-5512 card: Contact type balance head
*SB-5532 card: Non-Contact type balance head
*SB-5544 card: Manual balancing
*SB-5518 card: Hydrokompenser coolant fluid balancer
*SB-5522 card: Acoustic Emission Monitoring System (AEMS) for grinding
*SB-5560 card: Advanced grinding process control system
Multiple channels and grinding machines can be controller simultaneously.
The SB-5500 control can utilise the SBS IVIS Interactive Visualisation Software for machines running MS Windows for example on PCU's.
Older SB-2500 and SB-4500 balancer controls can be easily upgraded to the SB-5500 series.
Traditional pre-process methods of balancing (stroboscope, scales & knife-edges) are time consuming & skill intensive. The changing nature of the medium means the wheels do not remain balanced.
The SBS fully automatic dynamic balancer is an in-process permanently installed system, continuously monitoring spindle vibration & able to make corrections when instructed by the operator or machine control. Balancing time is reduced to seconds. Pre-balancing techniques are no longer required.
The Balance Head is available in contact & non-contact transmission types. Acoustic Emission (AE) sensors for grinding gap touch detection & crash prevention can be added.
